Symphonic Dance No. 3 Fiesta Review

Hello viewers, I'm once again back with more reviews on music that I've been assigned to express in my own opinion. For this post I'm doing my review on a piece known as the Symphonic Dance No. 3 Fiesta. It also has been a while since I've done reviews especially put up posts since the last post about the songs I'd choose for my novel series. If you still haven't checked the last post I'd suggest you do if you're interested. Now let us begin with the review.

Hearing this piece for the first time sort of reminded me of a kind of soundtrack that would be in something that stood in the medieval times like a videogame or a movie set in that kind of era. Although later on it sounds a little like samba. A really cool piece with a mixture of samba and medieval styles.

The instrumentation in this piece sounds like it includes Flute, Clarinet, Trumpet, maybe French Horn, Snare Drum, maybe Tuba, Symbols, Maracas, Bells or Chimes, Alto Saxophone, and Bass Drum.

The style of this piece makes it seem a bit of a medieval style but only in the beginning and changes into a samba style throughout the rest of the piece. That's probably what I'd say it sounds like, surely some parts don't sound either in samba or medieval style but I'm not entirely sure on what kind of style that sort of part would be.

With dynamic contrast most times it seems either forte or fortissimo with a little metso forte and maybe metso piano. This entire piece mostly consists of probably just forte and fortissimo more than metso forte or piano.

If I had to chose the piece of being technically or musically challenging I'd say musically challenging since it's not just all played by actually instruments but it'd take a lot of time to nearly perfect the piece even as a professional ensemble.

For patterns in this piece I do often hear some of the same phrases when it comes to the samba style but, to me, there doesn't seem to be very much repeats. At least it's not all about the repeats and the piece gives more to the song such as musicality and ideal.

I'd say the brass family in the piece really do the melody and bass line consistent while also making the piece sound cool, with the woodwinds the sound much better as a counter melody along with percussion and maybe as a background in the piece.

In the beginning it would sound like entering something like a castle or maybe a temple out in the outskirts of nowhere with most of the song sounding more like a festival taking place that consists of a samba-like style. It could be a song used in a type of festival, which it probably is since it has the same kind of style that'd be in a festival in Mexico.

There isn't much I would say that I didn't enjoy about the piece but it'd be sort of in the middle of my kind of liking in music. I enjoy listening to the samba-like style that goes on in the piece although if it didn't have the beginning sounding like something from medieval times then the piece would've been a lot more better than it is.

I guess the piece is okay in a way, I'd rate this piece probably a 6/10 stars and one thumb up. It'd get a much better rating from me only if the beginning matched the middle more than go off into its own type of style.

That's all for my review, if you'd like to listen to the piece yourself then the link will be below and I will probably be doing another post soon on more pieces that I thought would own the title of being the music for my inspiration in my novel series. Aside from that, I'm Taylor and this has been yet another review.
